HOW TO SET UP THE CELLULAR GATEWAY AS PRIMARY– STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
 
 First, your Console must be set up (see console setup).
 
You will also need access to your Console (keypad) or Handset.

You may need to set up your Cellular Gateway on a high floor in your home, or near an exterior wall, so it can get better cellular reception. The Cellular Gateway needs to be placed no more than 100 feet away from the Console.
 
Installing the Cellular Gateway:
1)  Remove back cover of Cellular Gateway.
2)  Insert Battery plug into two-pin jack and place battery into back of Cellular Gateway.
3)  Replace back cover
4)  Plug Cellular Gateway into wall outlet.
  • Make sure outlet is not controlled by a light switch
  • We recommend that you use an outlet near an outside wall, and that it maintains a good connection to the Base and Console.
5)  Once it locates a cellular tower and connects, it will auto-active.
 

HOW TO SET UP THE CELLULAR GATEWAY AS BACKUP– STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
 
Before you set up the Cellular Gateway, you need to activate your LifeShield system. 

You will also need access to your Console (keypad) or Handset. You may wish to set up your Cellular Gateway on a high floor in your home, or near an exterior wall, so it can get better cellular reception. The Cellular Gateway needs to be placed no more than 100 feet away from the Console.
 
 First, your Console must be set up (see console setup).
 
Installing the Cellular Gateway:
1)  Remove back cover of Cellular Gateway.
2)  Insert Battery plug into two-pin jack and place battery into back of Cellular Gateway.
3)  Replace back cover
4) Plug Cellular Gateway into wall outlet.
  • Make sure outlet is not controlled by a light switch
  • We recommend that you use an outlet near an outside wall, and that it maintains a good connection to the Base and Console.
Activating the Cellular Gateway as a Security System Backup:
Note: You only need to complete this step if you are adding the Cellular Gateway as a backup to an Internet Primary system. If you have a Cellular Primary system you do not need to complete this part of the set up process.

Using a Handset or Console:
1.  Press MENU.
2.  Scroll to Security Setup and press SELECT and
3.  Enter the Master Code*.
4.  Scroll to GCs or Handset and press SELECT.
5.  Scroll to <Add new> and press SELECT; system will begin searching for Cellular Gateway you want to add.
6. On Cellular Gateway, press and hold the button in center of device until green light starts flashing. Continue to hold until it stops flashing and wait until you see it rapidly flashing a second time. This will put Cellular Gateway in registration mode.
7.  f system successfully finds Cellular Gateway, Handset or Console/Keypad will show “CGW GX Found-Please Wait 60 Seconds” message.
8.  After 60 seconds, message “CGW GX Added” will appear.
9.  Use “Edit” feature to rename Cellular Gateway (optional). Press DELETE to erase current name and use keypad to enter new name.
 
At this point, the LifeShield system will communicate with the SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card that is located inside the Cellular Gateway. If this process is successful, the Handset or Console screen will show a “CGW: Initializing” message (allow up to 4 hours for this).

During the 4-hour activation period, the message “Ready to Arm. Activating SIM. Calls:0 Msg:0” may appear on the Handset or Console.  When SIM is successfully activated, the screen will show “Ready to Arm. (Date, Time). Calls:0 Msg:0” message.
 
Securing the Cellular Gateway to the Wall (Optional):
You can secure the Cellular Gateway to the wall (so it is not easily removed).
1)  For personal safety, turn power to outlet off at circuit breaker.
2)  Leave wall plate on outlet, but remove center screw.
3)  Plug Cellular Gateway into electrical outlet.
4)  Replace center screw by inserting it through tab on Cellular Gateway.
5)  Turn power back on at circuit breaker.
