LifeShield’s Cellular Gateway can be used as a backup to your broadband Internet connection. This means that even if your Internet goes down, the power goes out, and a burglar cuts your phone lines, the signal will still get to the monitoring center and your home will be protected. How It Works
- If an alarm is triggered and your LifeShield security system cannot communicate with the monitoring center via your Internet or land-line phone connections, it will use the Cellular Gateway.
- The Cellular Gateway uses GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications), the same technology used to transmit cell phone signals, to send a signal to the monitoring center indicating the need for emergency assistance.
- Once the monitoring center is notified, the help you need is just around the corner!
The Cellular Gateway uses the same technology that cellular phone carriers use, but you don't need a mobile phone or plan. Cellular technology is one of the fastest ways to transmit a signal from your home to the security monitoring center during an emergency event.
In addition to offering an additional layer of backup protection, the Cellular Gateway also extends your security sensor coverage, in a way that’s similar to the Grid Extender.
